DakotaLink is the South Dakota Assistive Technology Program funded in part by a grant from the Rehabilitation Services Administration, U.S. Department of Education, authorized under Public Law 108-364, referred to as the Assistive Technology Act of 2004 or the Assistive Technology Act of 1998, as amended.

The grant is administered by the South Dakota Department of Human Services, through the Division of Rehabilitation Services (Lead Agency), under a contract with the Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (Implementing Agency). The DakotaLink program goal is to create a comprehensive, consumer responsive system of technology-related assistance for individuals with disabilities of all ages all across South Dakota.

DakotaLink seeks to identify and design strategies that eliminate or overcome barriers to individuals with disabilities obtaining assistive technology devices and services in a timely manner. DakotaLink works closely with state agencies and disability organizations to overcome barriers, improve access, and provide demonstrations and training for individuals with disabilities, their families, service providers, and professionals.

All activities are designed to meet the needs of a very rural state. Demonstration/Service Centers, training activities and presentations bring assistive technology information and hands-on opportunities to the most remote areas of the state.
